Everyone told us it was a done deal. Some of the world's richest corporations wanted US politicians to pass a bill threatening a free Internet, and no one could stop them. 

But 3 million petition signatures, hundreds of thousands of phone calls, and thousands of press articles later, politicians are now running away from this bill!They haven't killed it yet, and we have to stay vigilant, but it's dead in the water for now. 

This is another victory in the rise of people power that's sweeping the world -- from Cairo to Moscow to Wall St. -- and Avaaz is the online epicentre. We are the world's largest online people-powered campaigning community, that has 12 million members hailing from every country on earth.

They really said the fight for a free Internet couldn't be won. But it was, and it will be, because every time we come together and work together as people across all boundaries and frontiers, nothing can stop us.
